Labradorite Worry Stones. listing is for one stone chosen at random

Labradorite is found in the Canadian providences of Labrador and Newfoundland. It was discovered in 1770 by missionaries at Ford Harbor, Paul Island off the coast of Labrador. It is a plagioclase feldspar mineral with a triclinic crystal structure but it is rarely found in crystal form. Labradorite has a hardness of 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale and is often used in Jewelry.

An Eskimo legend tells  of the Northern Lights that were once trapped in the rocks on the Labrador coast being set free by an Eskimo Warrior who struck the rock with his spear. However, he was unable to free them all, and that is why we have the stone know as Labradorite today.

Labradorite is prized for it's beautiful display of colors and labradorescence. It shows vibrant flashes of blue, green, grey, yellow, orange, red and in rarer cases purple. Spectrolite is the gem quality variety of Labradorite and typically displays more gold and purple colors.

Labradorite is a good stone for healers and those who work in public service as it is said to amplify the effects of healing and protect against negative energies. It is also said to enhance psychic abilities, stimulate the imagination and elevate ones consciousness.
